Props for Faraji The Elephant Film

Here are the props that the poacher and tourism owner use in the animation. They include a briefcase (made with balsa and sculpey), fake miniature cash (designed in photoshop and printed, then cut out and attached as individual sheets of paper), a bull-hook (made from sculpted and balsa), a sack of money (sewn from fabric and stuffed with foam into shape, with faux-suede ribbon around the top and a painted sign on the front).

The above image is a prop that was used to create a foreground in the shot (to look like a hole in a crate - from the elephants perspective) and had a rig to attach it to the camera so that during a camera move it would follow and stay in scale/position.

This sign was made using a design in illustrator and printed with a laser-cutter. The style is old and neglected, to convey the kind of camp that it represents. The colours are chosen to give the idea of a vintage circus.

The above image is of a half-character who's body never enters the shot. His arms are used to open the briefcase in the trade deal shot between the poacher and the dealer. I sculpted the hands that were used to cast using sculpted and they were then cast in silicone.

This final photograph shows the poacher character, along with the elephant. They are posing similarly to the action that takes place in scene where the poacher sells Faraji to the tourism industry.
